PGBC is proud to partner with Sheno Kale Heywet Church in Ethiopia through World Orphans. World Orphans works through local churches to help vulnerable families break the cycle of poverty.
ABOUT THE CHURCH
Sheno Kale Heywet Church was founded in 2002 and is located 80 kilometers from the capital, Addis Ababa, in a small city of few residents, mostly dominated by Orthodox Christians. The church remains small; however, since 2002, the church has planted three more churches in the surrounding areas. Thankfully, the church owns the place they have now, providing a great opportunity for the church to invest more deeply in establishing a wholistic ministry for the church members and for the community. The church supports families in the community with clothes, school supplies for the children, and with gifts on special holidays. The church’s contribution to these families has garnered it a greater respect and acceptance within the community.
PRAYER REQUESTS
- For the church: Prayer for the 41 people who have responded to the gospel to overcome fear of persecution and to come to church to learn and grow, to be able to support more families, increase school attendance, and repair the school playground.
- For caregiver Mulu: She asks for prayer for her daughter to do go back and do well in school.
- For caregiver Kalkidan: She wants the country to be peaceful, and for the young generation to have peace in the family, for her business to grow and prosper, and for God to quell her fear and anxiety of dying and leaving her kids alone.
- For caregiver Tigist: She is hoping for a shop where she can have her for business to get out of the cold, and for her issues with epilepsy and fainting when she gets angry with her 16 yo son.
- For caregiver Elfinesh: She has a goiter that is inoperable, and asks prayer for her kids to not be lazy and excel in school
- For Pastor Mulugeta: He asks for prayer for the orphan girl taken in by his family to thrive and for the resolution of a land dispute where his home is located.

LEADERSHIP
The church has two full-time ministers.The main pastor is Pastor Mulugeta. He has been serving at Sheno KHC since 2010. He is married and a father of three. He loves children and believes in reaching them by meeting their physical and spiritual needs. He has baptized a number of children through his ministry. The two ministers work together with a committee of seven elders selected from the church to lead and administer the church.
